Edinburgh Recording Company
Edinburgh Recording Company is a professional recording and mixing service which offers musicians a distinctive naturalistic sound at an affordable price.
Based in a 19th century church, ERC offers a unique acoustic environment and a stunning setting for recording. The quality and length of the natural reverb in the building is due to the exceptional design and wooden beam structure. This makes for a phenomenal drum sound in particular.
ERC is an analogue-only studio. No computers are used in the recording and mixing process. The ethos is to take advantage of the warmth, detail and immediacy of tape. This means that music captured at ERC is based on musician performance and engineering skill.
The church is in regular use. To check availability, please click on Church Calendar in LINKS
ENGINEERDoug MacDonald has worked as a studio engineer in Edinburgh for 6 years. His method is to work collaboratively with the artist’s sound with the emphasis on the artist’s performance. This is done through microphone placement and preamp choice during recording rather than on editing in post-production. Saving you time and money, this also takes advantage of the energy and familiarity of playing live. Amplifiers can be tracked in the custom-built amp booth for separation.
